FORMER ARMY COMMANDER SARATH FONSEKA INDICTED ON 41 CHARGES

Former Army Commander parliamentarian Sarath Fonseka was indicted under 41 charges at the Colombo High Court yesterday. The Charges filed by the Attorney General state he should be punished for violating sections 102, 113, 128, and 133 of the Penal Code, during the period between September 16, 2009 and January 26, 2010.
Former Army captain Senaka Haripriya Arnold has been named as the second respondent in the case.
The charges against MP Sarath Fonseka state that after he retired from military service, he attempted to dissuade military police officials, who were not attached to his security contingent legally from carrying out their work and their loyalty to the government.
The persons who allegedly joined him have been charged separately.
After considering the charges Colombo High Court Judge Deepali Wijesundara issued summons to the accused to appear before court on the 15th of September to hand over indictments.
Twenty-nine witnesses have been listed to give evidence in the case.(News-Lakresa)
