Sakvithi Ranasinghe's accounts under probe, says Central bank Governor

Sri Lanka Central Bank Governor Ajith Niward Cabral said to media yesterday that the ill-famous scam artist Sakvithi Ranasinghe who swindled nearly 900 million rupees and absconding arrest had opened 27 accounts in a number of commercial banks.
Of these 27 accounts, 22 were opened in a certain bank. Cabral denied to divulge the name since a probe is underway. All his accounts are being probed currently.
Meanwhile, the victimized depositors of Sakvithi Ranasinghe's racket held a demonstration in Colombo yesterday seeking justice and the arrest of the culprit.

Sri Lanka police to count the people migrated from Eastern Province to Western Province

Sri Lanka police have planned to conduct a census and re-registration of the persons migrated from Eastern Province to Western Province on Sunday, October 05.
The persons who have migrated to the Western Province from the Eastern Province are urged to report to the police station of their residential area with identity documents on that day between 9 AM to 6 PM.
Sri Lanka police recently conducted a similar census in September to account and re-register the persons migrated to Western Province from the Northern Province within the last five years.

Students chastised for smoking cannabis

Eleven students were chastised by the Colombo magistrate for allegedly smoking cannabis. The students from several different leading National and International schools were fined Rs. 2,000 each and advised to behave properly, for if caught in the future they would be jailed.

LTTE confirms SLAF attack on Nadesan's office complex

LTTE confirmed the Air Force claim that the LTTE "police" complex had been attacked. They have confirmed that the building complex had sustained damages.
