Prime Minister Rathnasiri Wickremanayake says 155 military personnel were killed and 983 others wounded in terrorist attacks during August this year.
Moving a motion to extend the state of emergency by a further month, Mr. Wickremanayake told the House today (Sept. 09th) that four civilians also died and 50 others sustained injuries in these attacks.
The military should have the legal backing to wipe out terrorism, he said, adding that it was capturing territory in the north, to which a minority in the south was displaying its opposition.
